Huge congratulations Dr Strong!!

 

You've achieved one of my watch/life goals so my hat is off to you. I dearly love the original PloProf and have done so since my best mate inherited one from his dad who was a mad keen diver in the 70's.  The closest I get to owning one is admiring his, here you can see it when he was holding my son aged about 2 months old (about a year ago):



It is funny that you use the "Deep Down it's beautiful" vintage advert as a few years ago I made up a  framed set of vintage adds of the PloProf including that one for my mate.  It looked similar to this one below but with PloProf adds of course (this one is in my house as a testament to my flightmaster obsession):



I love that shot of Gianni Agnelli that you included too.  There is another of him in John Goldberger's book "Omega Sports Watches" on page 43 skiing in St Moritz in 76 with the PloProf over a blue cable nit jumper that is just a style icon.  I had not seen the the shot you posted before but love them both.  A man who (reportedly) got shot by a German officer during WWII in a bar fight over the affections of lady certainly shows a type of rugged masculinity even if (by fate of birth) he was fighting for another Axis allied country at the time.

Anyway wear yours in good health and enjoy it's grand history of exploration and adventure.

Such a great way to describe this watch... This is a fine example of true tool-watch... Functionality over design... Very geeky looking watch but I say it's really cool! And Mr. Agnelli could really pull it off... I'm actually quite interested to know mor...

It technical and orignal case makes all the difference. Not evident to wear on an everyday basis, but hey, a " strong " watch. Best, and thanks for this nice and interesting post. Nicolas.

HI Jeff I have a warm spot for these watches... They are not that BIG in comparison to today's styles .... very wearable watch. This is a FORM fits function... You know at the factory these watches were tested to 1000m before shipping them out !! I just g...
