I have seen the Steel case version of the watch ....
Hi tirewatcher
Welcome to the forum. The Seamaster XVI was a gold model. But Omega did make that case in steel.
This watch was in my collection for may years ( it had been sold ). I still have photos..

I have come across a few example over the years. This case style was not too popular. But I loved the jumbo Omega Seamaster on the back.
If you can post a photos of the front and back.. A big positive would be if the caseback has the Olympic Cross of Merit instead of the Seamaster relief. If it just has the Seamaster on the caseback well it would not help confirm the sellers claims. What color is the markers and hands? If the dial has the Olympic Cross of Merit ( with the Olympic Rings ) the dial itself is worth alot of money. Omega was ordered by the Olympic committee to remove the Olympic Cross of Merit from the dial, and Omega then signed them Seamaster XVI ... So the dial itself is a find!
Looking forward to more info !

Hi Desmond... It was a long time ago, over a discussion about the model with an Omega employee. I also came across the same bit of info documented I will see if I can find hard copies. The IOC was not as concerned about the caseback and box . I guess they...
