Omega

re Olympic Cross

HI Bill,

I'd be really interested to know the source for the information you shared about Omega having been ordered to remove the Cross from Melbourne commemorative dials.

I was of the understanding that it was always intended that the Olympic Cross dials would be in limited edition.  I understood that Omega commisssioned Jean-Pierre Mathey-Claudet, an Omega prototype technician, to produce a limited number (around 100).

The reason I ask this is that, while there were few dials with the Olympic Cross on them, all boxes containing XVI had an enamelled Olympic Cross on the box top......hence one would imagine that if the IOC ordered Omega to stop doing dials, it would also apply to the case.

Cheers

Desmond
