I first got interested in the central tourbillon concept when I saw a friend's Haldimann H1 but the H1 being outta my league but still being interested in a central tourbillon, I chanced upon this: I believe only Omega and Haldimann have central tourbillo...

hi, i learnt this central tourbillon when i read a watch book written by a Hong Kong watch collector few years ago. i was amazed and impressed by the skillful technique of this watch made by Omega. the following picture copied from that book is attached f...  

The bracelet on this is a tad much for me though The RG I think would look great with a strap to match the color of the indicators which I can make out if they are black or a very dark blue.

I think you and Nico must be blood brothers with SJX who has been encouraging more depletion of scarce funds on this. But yes, there is something close to magical about this piece isn't there. I've seen the Rg and PT version side by side and for me, the R... 

The lastest with the co-axial (1) I know of and 2 with the Omega logo on the tourbillon. The version in the pic I posted has Omega and the number signed on the dial (2) and the version that Dr No posted does NOT have Omega and the number signed on the dia... 

. . . two different movements [see MT/MTF/SW articles in Omega blog archives], so really, there are four distinct varieties. I believe Greg's is one of the first generation, which are, as far as I know, indistinguishable from the second generation externa... 

that the guilloche of the dial for the first 2 (or 3?) variants (see pic of Greg's watch and the one I posted) is very different and yes, the latter being simpler. The markers have also been changed in shape and I think the latter are in black vs blue for... 

Arthur (i remembered!), i heard there were 12 a year initially produced, but most of my info comes from the first (or is it the second or third) model. effectively they started being produced to order, but it would seem they were popular, relatively speak... 

RG example of the iteration I posted, there are at least thirty something pieces because that's what was on the dial when I saw it in person. On a separate note, its very nice to see a piece so old and pure it still stands out amongst all the larger more ... 

hi, i read the Omegamania Thematic Auction book again, the 1st generation of the central tourbillon was launched in 1994 to mark the hundredth anniversary of the founding of Omega. the 2nd generation of the Co-Axial central tourbillon was launched in 2007...

What these photos cannot convey is the visual effect of the co-axial escapement in action. It's damned difficult to describe, and you have to see it for yourself to fully appreciate it. The best I can do is to make an analogy with the rods that connect lo...

What is that silver colored fibre like thing that replaces the engraved plate in the middle of the tourbillon? Also, you say this version comes with a sapphire case back? Now I'm really getting excited!

Saw it in one of the close-ups of the movements in the second link you posted.

. . . I believe the part of the movement you're referring to is the platform for the tourbillon, and my hazy memory of a special afternoon spent with several friends and three (!) Omega tourbillons is that one of them had a display back. Cordially, Art
