Hello everyone....
I have been having a phone conversation with a couple of the forum regulars over the last week or so. One of the topics of conversation was Gold Omegas...
What color gold are you most attracted to ? There is Yellow , White, Rose and have even see Green on occasion ( not Omega ).
Also does anyone happen to know what white gold formula was used by Omega case makers in the 1950s like on the white gold connies ? Or how about in the 1960s with the C-shaped connies ?
As a collector you collect what you can find and before the use of the internet in finding watches... A lonely Omega collector in the US would find a lot of yellow gold ( mostly 14k) and US made cases.
I personally prefer Swiss made cases , and when I was first collecting stayed away from gold case examples. As I used to travel for work I was able to find " interesting" watches along the way.
But the internet really helped in opening the flood gates...
I do have a few Omega Pink gold watches (Swiss made cases) some in 18k others in 14k. One or two was found in the USA and a few in Italy !
So where have you found some of your odd colored watches ?
One last thing that always amazes me that every gold watch I hold in my hands escaped the "melting pots" of the 70s and now ! Also what do you do if you have to scrap a watch?
Good hunting
