Patek Philippe

.

Well, marketing and all the big-name-heritage-generations-father-and-son-piano-sonata aside, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Not just buying a Patek , but going into haute horlogerie and other 'better' things of life in general should be understood as a sign that you're already above and beyond simply following what the big boys wants you to believe . You're in because of your appreciation and acknowledgement of their dedication in quality and execution of craftsmanship , you chose them because you've came a long way, appreciated the multiple facets of things and life and already know exactly what you really desire.

Otherwise , if someone brought a patek too early for his age and experience , at the bottom of his heart he'll still feel underwhelmed, he'll think that maybe there's more to be had, because for the price tag there's always other brands that offer more bang and bling and wow for the money, and he'll be very angry when others say in disbelief :' well it looked like a $500 watch to me' .

I'm sure you'll encounter the said kind of people sooner or later. Owning a high caliber patek does not mean one can dismiss the purpose of a budget miyota. We all evolved from there, and we allshould still respect the Casio and miyota's we once loved. So congratulations, and proudly stand by your decision. Smile and not laugh; be confident and not arrogant.

Some say the best place for a true masterpiece is gracefully slide underneath a gentleman's sleeves. My own little cult of watch freaks used to make jokes about this :

'Do you know why a true gentleman's tux is so tight?'

'So one can not raise one's arms so high to reveal one's patek, it's inappropriate ;-).'
