You've just said it. You like the 5396 more. Personally, I would take the 5396 without question. Perhaps it would be an idea for you not to be swayed by the lack of availability of the 5712. It dosen't really make a difference as you are buying a watch to use and enjoy, not for it's rarirty.

Look at it this way
If you buy the 5712 and wear it for a month or so, take care of it but then ultimately decide you don't like it, you could sell it in a heartbeat for more than retail. Mercenary, sure...but why not?

grey dealers buy one from owners at 30% above MSRP and sells it at 45%+. yes it's hard to buy one from AD, but there's certain amount of supply for sure so some collectors can get one easily whilst newbie can't. it's just the same story in other countries...
