I currently have a 5040 rose in my collection and am considering a trade for a 5100J with another collector. Those that have been involved in watch collecting for some time would you make the trade of a 5040r for a 5100j? I like them both but because I ha... 

These two watches are totally different and I don't think you can compare those with each others. If I should speculate, probably 5100 will keep its value better because it's rarer. However, Patek can start to use the same movement for a new reference so ...

Thanks, Kari and that is basically my thinking as well. I like them both and am drawn to the tonneau or rectangular shapes. I already have another perpetual and 5134 and aquanaut and nautilus in my patek collection. I like them both but appreciate the leg... 

is pure speculation. If somebody would know that a watch has a high value in the future, then this value would be discounted to NPV already now. I guess neither 5040 or 5100 is highly demanded with premium prices at the moment. This means that it's unlike...

I have a yellow gold with black dial aquanuat that I always considered rare but now may trade that instead with a lot more money of course for the 5100 and keep the 5040. I like the aquanaut but do feel a little strange with the yellow gold when I am wear... 

I consider the 5100 as one of the most beautiful watch ever made in a rectangular shape (with the 5101, but it is another budget !). As I less appreciate the tonneau shape, I would of course make this trade. But (there is a "but"), the yellow gold version...
