5040r or 5100j
I currently have a 5040 rose in my collection and am considering a trade for a 5100J with another collector. Those that have been involved in watch collecting for some time would you make the trade of a 5040r for a 5100j? I like them both but because I have a number of other watches I would only want one of these going forward. Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

These two watches are totally different and I don't think you can compare those with each others. If I should speculate, probably 5100 will keep its value better because it's rarer. However, Patek can start to use the same movement for a new reference so ...

5040 vs. 5100 apples and oranges
Thanks, Kari and that is basically my thinking as well. I like them both and am drawn to the tonneau or rectangular shapes. I already have another perpetual and 5134 and aquanaut and nautilus in my patek collection. I like them both but appreciate the leg...
