and it is a limited edition of only 100 pieces. Created to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Salon Patek Philippe in Geneva. Designed around a long-lost cache of 100 Caliber 9-90 movements originally manufactured in 1950 - the last "real" rectangular ... 

it is interesting to hear that it was the last "real" rectangular movement from PP, is there any particular benefit to using a rectangular movement vs. a regular circular movement? I do agree it is a nice watch. S

Many purists feel that movement and case design should be in harmony, and I share that belief. A round case should house a round movement and a rectangular case should ideally house a rectangular movement. Similarly there are those that feel that movement... 

makes sense and aesthetically as well, a rectangular movement looks interesting. S

for about 34 years and they did two different series. Almost 18.000 movements have been made. For some it stll is one of, if not THE, the finest tonneau shaped movement around. A true marvel. Some gorgeous watches came with that movement. For example: Ref... 

But this one is also special. A special request for no sub seconds!! Apparently made for an English gent who wanted it as a dress watch, A fun afternoon that stretched for hours!! Well done Andrew for organising Julian

There are many reasons a watch can be special. Some are technical achievements. Such as a manual wind with say 14 day power reserve. Very impressive reserve. Or a very thin automatic with micro rotor. Very impressive thin-ness. Those are "measurable" quan...

Is this the first time Patek used screws to secure the case back in its mechanical/man's watch (apart from the 24)?

Some early versions of the 5119 had casebacks secured with screws, while later models had snap backs. Not sure when or why they made the change.

My 5010 has a screwed on case back. I believe there are other rectangular Pateks that do also, but not positive. The 5014?
