If you could afford 5270, why not then 5327 (or 5140) plus 5170? That would cost roughly the same as 5270 and give you an iconic perpetual with fantastic 240Q movement plus one of the finest simple chronographs available. And then you would still have you...

This was a shot taken of the 5170P at Basel. The lugs stick out a little! It may not bother most purists but I am a quite particular. So I am hoping that my wrist grows somehow!! And yes, I have been posting most of my wrist shots of watches of a smaller ...  

In my honest opinion it fits perfectly. The lugs does not hang over at all. And pictures always make watches look bigger than they really are. Of course I respect your opinion don't get me wrong, but I dear you to find one single person on this forum that... 

I was actually with a fellow purist at Basel and even he agreed that this 5136G fitted my wrist perfectly compared to the 5170P. I think the angle of the shot fails to show the lugs on the 5170P which do not curve sufficiently in my opinion and therefore ...  

I dropped by at a Patek AD yesterday to try on a 5170G and the manageress did agree with me that as much as the 5170G was her personal favouriite, the lugs did hang over sufficiently to deem the watch too large for me. This was more apparent as I tried on... 

5170 P for all the reasons already mentioned... I fully agree with Kari's comments even if I'm not sure I would have been able to phrase it as well : while reading it I was thinking he had read in my mind ! 😉 Let us know the outcome with some pocs... Good...

Have seen all in the metal. 5170P is beautiful, but I don't fancy the diamonds. 5270G-019 would be a very strong contender, but a little too bland for me in a blue dial. I would wear a blue dial timepiece casually, so the 5905P works better for me. Has us... 

The chin was made in very few numbers, at a short duration. Maybe a collectible one in the future.

But I would go with the 5170p. I am generally not a fan of diamond markers but having seen the watch in person I think that they are fairly subtle.

Well it be black dial you think? For some reasons my wife resents black straps, and I don't know what else to pair black dials with. Thomas

If the latter, the choice for me is easy. The 5170P. Stunning yet classic design. Diamond markers are no longer a negative having grown accustomed to them on the 5976. So all in, I quite like the dedicated complication and beautiful finishing

There are some changes with the sunburst dial decoration that allow to play with the light but these dials show the same colour on their whole surface, in a homogeneous way. In fact, I don't remember a dial looking like the 5170P either. A very good choic...
