All, I am interested in adding a Patek Philippe annual calendar to my collection and, after quite some deliberation, have narrowed the selection to the 5396R-012 and the 5205R-001 . Both pieces appeal to me and are ultimately excellent interpretations of ...  

Do you really intend to use the complication? In that case the answer is also pretty clear.

The only reason is that I do not like when the date is placed to 6 a'clock and I find that the day day, date and month are organised in a very attractive way in 5205. But both watches are great representatives of the species (AC). Best, Kari

...I am not sure the question is relevant if it is to influence your choice because this might mislead you and bring you to a wrong decision. It is not because 90% of us vote for one of the 2 options that it is the one you should take. It actually depends...

Plus points over the 5396 - Much more easy to read the date which is arranged very logically - More interesting looking case, more curvy Minus is the it kind of wears small, but may or may not matter depending on your taste, Bottomline, buy what sings to ...  

Back in 2011, I saw the ad of the 5205g in the magazine where a boy is seated on the desk of the father who was wearing a business suit. That ad won me over Patek and my first Patek was a 5205g. I know that watch can be worn on business suit and will look... 

I've always loved this watch and in Rose it sings loud and clear to me. My eyes and heart say 5396r. Good luck as both are beautiful just imo one more beautiful than the other. It's a bit like asking my girlfriend which tie should I wear? Best. M.

It is a question of classic vs modern. I like the classic look of the 5396R. Also at the same price, a deployant clasp is nice to have. Both are great looking watches though!

I like the balance of the 5396. its only fault to me is the cutting off of the 24 hr at the top of the sub-dial. i would prefer they just don't print the number. but that is a small offense.
