Patek Philippe

I will write later about this watch since it is my fav Patek from Baselworld 2019. A nice complication, an improved 324 movement (the 26-330), a lovely dial lay-out, this watch summarizes the Patek I like. Fx ...  

... but I was thinking that it's a pretty busy dial. LOT's of Characters! I actually feel with this dial the white date aperture works well to clearly highlight this function.

Better symmetry, but the number has to rotate to show upright.

I too do not like the date window and based on what she said, I re evaluated the watch and yes, the date window would reduce the dial being too cluttered. I have placed an order for one and hopefully when I do try it on, it will look as good as on Francoi... 

... and anywhere other than "3" o'clock or "6" o'clock gets confusing. The MORE important thing is that it appears that the same handwritten characters used elsewhere on the dial are also employed in the date aperture.

but imagine a dial with 31 for the date and another with 53 for the number of weeks - it can be confusing at first glance.

Not a bad idea except that if you watched the Patek video on the watch, Philip Barat (head of watch development) mentioned that having 5 hands, one on top of the other, was not an easy task so I assume adding a sixth would have been even more difficult.

but the watch is overall so great that I could live with that.

today I reached the conclusion that it deserved a different strap. It just does’t fit this classy watch properly. imho of course, all in all a matter of taste etc

also moving the hours batons from the periphery towards the center of the dial...perhaps it's just me, but isn't that a bit disturbing..??

The idea of a weekly calendar is quite unusual. Certainly a watch to be part of a larger collection, but probably not one someone might want to own as their only Patek. I am also not a fan of the date window, but with this complication you need a date and... 

Certainly different, I like it. I think it fits nicely in my collection and have asked my AD to order one.

and different without being oer the top unusual. It will fit in nicely with my collection...Jim

and if it would not say Patek on the dial this one would go down completely unnoticed. Maybe it looks better in real but it is as blund es it can get in my own, personal view. To me it is looking like a Frederique Constant watch, not like a Patek. A very ... 

I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say it looks like a Constant-I see design cues from past Pateks. But this is seemingly an overcomplication of a complication that can be done so much more elegantly. (I’m not sure if my pun was intended or not.) This dial ... 

Overcomplicated looking und too busy is not an issue for me per se, as I like the 5159 a lot, which has got quite an overloaded, to some even messy, dial. In the 5159 case all is pleasing to my eye, yes a lot to read but pleasing to overlook all at the sa... 

from Blancpain or JLC....in my honest and humble opinion and in very direct words....they simply did not succeed...

this type of dial and composition (day window with two pointers) but still the esthetics can not be called elegant or lavish, in my opinion, which applies to a BP, JL or VC calendar.

And I like this a lot, for me 5212A is a very well design watch but why go with the handwriting of the designer. I think the font should be casual but not handwritten...

it is quite a clever idea and I like the dial a lot. I only think it would have been better if the date display would have been more in line with the way the week and day. It just looks a bit too “standard” date display. The case looks absolutely beautifu...

I came across this Patek Philippe latest release watch but found that it's very similar to Vincent Calabrese 52, made 20 years ago! What a coincidence!!! ...

Best, to see it in the flesh. Before passing judgment to it. But definitely a welcome move by Patek to have a stainless steel model in The Calatrava line. Tfs. 👍 Geross 😉
