Agreed, I don't like the 5131 for the "hard to obtain" factor. I like it because I am passionate about enamel work, all enamel work; from grand feu enameling, to cell enameling, to miniature paintings.

I'm also passionate about engraving art ever since I noticed (many years ago) hunting rifle with a relief engraving pattern of scroll work and some ducks and pheasants.

This engraving art and enamel art is an art-form that I have come to appreciate and respect. I recently tried to engrave something myself and all I can say was that I failed miserably.

Thank you for your beautiful post. All I can say is that I hope this art form and the techniques continue to be passed down to future generations.

completely unique. No two dials can ever be made exactly the same. The whole process involved in the creation of the dial is pure artistry. It is like wearing a rare painting on your wrist. To me it's magical. As far as the grey market, they are not part ...

For me it's the meticulous and timely hard work it takes create the Ref. 5131. But at least I learned that all those beautiful pieces you posted are readily available each year.
