easy decision
The 5711 would be more my style of these two (though I prefer AP), but this is an easy decision...always go with what YOU like most rather than what is hyped most. (One of my "mistakes" early on was getting a Daytona, not because I loved it, but because everyone told me I should love it.) Sounds like you've decided against the Bleu, but ya I don't think that would be the best option as I think the concern about losing $$ if banged would still factor into your thinking. Just another incredibly hyped high value watch.
It does sound like you "really quite like" like the 5711 and it "looks great and feels great". I may be in the minority here, but I don't think there is anything wrong with having a watch that you are a bit more careful with...wearing on special occasions and just being a bit extra careful about banging it etc.. So if you do love the 5711, there's always the option to keep, enjoy, and just wear it a little more carefully and sparingly. I don't think that's such a terrible option.

I'd do it. Frankly, I think so little of the 5711 I'd trade it for a Swatch (if prices were equal).

No idea about valuations but the 5711 is unwearable (as you state) and therefore useless to you.
Makes sense therefore to me to leverage it into to something else. The Darth is a cool iteration of another iconic watch. So you still have an icon, but perhaps then a wearable one.
