Every Caliber R 27 Variant to Date
In 1989 Patek Philippe launched their first “in-house” repeater movement--back then the Gerald Genta brand dominated the chiming wristwatch market. R27 had automatic winding, like the Genta and Blancpain repeaters already on the market, but was a bit thicker and much better sounding. R27 is known to be reliable and [reasonably] durable, seeing little change over its 36 years of production.
This year the 5208 is being replaced by the 5308.

The R27 is a work-horse for MR models 💪 Do you foresee significant revisions coming soon to the next version ?
There are a few things they could add, but I doubt they will
AP added a system that blocks the crown when chiming, and an extra hook to carry the quarters rack (which skips the "phantom" quarters) to their MR movements.
