For those who have that type of money, he should

have no problem in getting the watch. Anything can be bought if you throw enough money at it.

Is it rare and collectible? At that price point, there appears to be an abundance of super complicated pieces readily available.

Discontinued, as has been demonstrated by Patek recently, only implies that another rare and collectible piece will be on its way shortly.

If your friend is familiar enough with the watch to know the reference number, I believe he is well aware of what it is and I don't know why feedback is necessary, particularly when a purchase of this magnitude is out of reach for most folks who are on this forum. (I'm taking some liberty here believing most forum members are not at this level of purchase).

I can't imagine that the opinion of forum members would be a deciding factor for his purchase.
