Patek Philippe

I'm glad you liked it Kari

I know that you have seen many complicated and rare watches and that it gives you quite a very good perspective when trying a watch.

I completely agree with you about the 5204's place for Patek.

This 5370P is indeed something very special and I was also wondering which one I would get if budget was not an issue but didn't find the answer yet.

About the combination of complications, I would say that it is a sort of 1+1=more than 2.

Making each complications is one thing but the more you put them together, the more difficult it is to perform. The combination itself is a complication (and the room needed). Thus, if we consider that watchmaking or micromechanics is also about mastering this difficulty, then the 5204 or the MR+PC+Chronograph etc... are near the top of what is proposed today in traditional watchmaking.

I know that some collectors sometimes like to feel the practical logic of a combination but I don't think that it is the main idea of these combinations. We could have the same discussion with the 5960/5905 versus 5930 for instance.

And it is also part of their history as they did it in the past. For instance the Chrono-PC is an iconic Patek combination on its own.

Here you have the most complicated chronograph (Split) with the most complicated Calendar one.

But I would totally understand that it is not what matters to everyone.

Thank you very much for your very kind comments Kari smile

Best, Mark
