I don't think we can always understand why people do certain things or treasure certain details but speaking of myself, I cannot understand paying a massive premium for a unique dial
This does not mean I wouldn't pay more for a better pristine original dial or in the case of vintage PP an enamlled lettered dial .
But I have never been one to pay for having Tiffany on the dial- if it means the price id double
Originality and condition have their costs but for a unique one of dial does not carry the weight that some collectors ascribe to it and thus pay exorbitant sums for such a watch
But hey it's not my money. spend away if it makes you happy
However at those stratospheric levels of collecting ,price does not come into the equation I suspect.

Take this as an example, a 5970 with a unique dial But that is just the same case, movement, level of finishing .... everything 100% the same except the dial ofcourse Now .... That watch just sold at Phillips for more or less 1.4 million euro Now, looking...
If I want a black dial,
the 5970P would suffice for me. Otherwise, either the 5970R or 5970G is fine with me.

Well said, and great point. Patek can charge whatever it wishes for anything they make..... we know there are many billionaires with literally tons of cash to throw at yaghts, watches, etc.
Plus it helps keep PP large company expenses paid for. My question would be if PP will change those subdials. They look very awkward to me, most brands have mastered matching subdials to the mail dial background. The technology is there, if PP truly makes...

Given my lack of financial resources, I would definitely go for the set if I had the means for the set. For collectors with resouces, definitely will go for the rare ones. Why not ? Rarity is what high end collectors want.
