I have a different opinion
I prefer manual wind watches and find them about as practical as an automatic mechanical watch. If you want true practicality buy a quartz.
I agree with others that it is best to wear the watch which for me is usually 5 days a week, unless I choose to wear something else for a change. I never travel with it though.
