Cognoscenti, As many of you are aware I just purchased a 5905P and am in love with it. My only critique of it is that it did not come with a platinum deployant clasp and instead comes with the platinum tang buckle. My AD was unwilling to negotiate a swap ... 

If you're considering resale value keep both.

I traded my buckle on my 5227G to a deployant clasp. It made the watch easier, quicker and safer to put on and remove. In the long run you will save on the cost of leather watch bands which could be several hundred dollars a year, if the watch is a daily ... 

The price for the platinum deployant clasp with the buckle trade-in is about right. Everything with a Patek is expensive. Ask your A.D. how much would a replacement spring bar for your watch strap would cost and you would know exactly what I mean. Good lu...

In saying that, the $3,500 for this seems high to me, however I am no expert on the value so cannot really comment other than if I had the means, and it would exponentially improve my feeling when wearing/looking at the timepiece, I would go for the chang... 

I don't understand this type of first world problem...... If the watch came on the deployant only.... then you could have the deployant only..... BUT If it came on a tang buckle..... I would want to retain the original....... Also the strap is different -...  

I have done just this with a number of pieces from Patek and Lange. I would get the deployant, doing the swop makes perfect sense as why have a redundant tang but you will need a new strap for best fit on the wrist.

Personally I find the excessively ornate and showy PP symbol on the deployant very jarring.
