This version is perfect. Last Wg salmon dial left me cold. The yellow gold version is also gorgeous and probably one of the most under rated Patek pieces in the modern collection

However, as you said, the YG version is also marvelous and catches attention very much by its beauty and refinement imho. Funny, as there are some classical models which look really good in YG in the Patek catalogue, in spite of the fact it isn't that "in... 

The dark character comes from the deep dark blue dial (which is a, solid I reckon, blued gold dial) and the indices that are quite dark at times, depending on the light and angle. This makes time reading a little difficult at times but since we admire tim... 

and in a very elegant outfit. I like the 5127 and 5227 references but I think that this case would add a lot on the long run. With a suit, it looks so much more powerful compared to a round case model. Very tempting. Thanks for you warm comments an dinput...

The shaped watches aren't the "natural" way to choose a watch today but this model is certainly one that is totally worth it, bringing an additional taste to the classical cases. Another way to enjoy wearing Patek watches for sure. Thank you for your nice... 

Hello Mark, Thanks for sharing this, I'm smitten! I've never owned a Patek, but that's really only because I'm more of a shaped case guy. While I enjoy and like traditional round watches, I love rectangular and tonneau shapes. However, I must have a shape... 

I always keep an eye on shaped Pateks, even if I wasn't ready to jump until now. I would really hesitate a lot between this one an d a round case Calatrava. I would really feel I'm wearing something more original and what I would call an "aesthete" watch.... 

I recently saw the new g but I think the j has the most character. ...

Well Christian, the problem is that I saw J and this one but not the G previous version in the metal so it is very hard to tell. I just can say that the new blue is very much more fitting my taste. It is not casual, it is very elegant and refined but has ... 

my first Patek project but then went for the 5127G as my first patek. Still love and admire the special case design of the gondolo. I tried the previous models a few time and I really liked it. This said it is a design that is not for everyone perhaps too... 

and I make a stop whenever I see a picture on the net. As for the Gondolo, and especially because of the case shape and style, it is something that appeal a lot to some of us. I see you've been having this watch in your papers for a long time now and this... 

I will fall in love and come home with it The great thing about the gondolo collection is the availability. No waiting lists and long waits. I suspect is because of the case shape that is not for everyone.

and sometimes the production is as so. But usually the pleasure for the client is higher too. A fellow purist friend has a 5200 and is delighted with it. I didn't find one for me yet but I must say that when I fall in love with a shaped watch it is a bonu... 

I would but it in the following way: I like this enough to buy it but not enough to hunt it. Probably if I will one day feel like getting a new watch and there are no "must" purchases, I would go after 5124G. Thanks for the review and happy Easter. Best, ... 

and I found a local AD that has both. I will go and try it soon but I think the old version has a more "vintage" and unique look to it. Sometime ago you talked about it and said that you wouldn't part with it. Do you still have it ? Obviously two watches ... 

The dial is somehow too pale to my taste and the numbers fill up the dial too much. I strongly prefer the blue one. What I would like to see is the salmon dial 5170P. Something like the London version of 5070G. In such a watch salmon looks good especially...

or with jeans (whatever the jacket) as I also like the contrast modern/classical and the fact they have the blue color in common. Of course any smart (or suit) trousers with a nice shirt is perfect too... But I imagine the only limitation is not a jogging... 

All bespoke suits I have, are from thinnest possible material. The "everyday" suits are another thing. Best, Kari
