I will be honest, it absolutely influences what I wear in certain company/circumstances.
There is some baggage as you call it associated with this watch and others.
Does it impact my desire or appreciation for the watch? I don’t think so. But it probably impacts my enjoyment.
I will also add, the price / market value has a direct correlation to the amount of baggage (using your term again). My Bape X Swatch watches are probably rarer by numbers, and in some circles may be equally or more desirable than the Nautilus, and perhaps more widely desirable, but given the price point the baggage is non existent.

Interesting question you asked ! IMO, most people are influenced by the majority.
Previously I did not have one. Since the 40th anniversary, the attention/hype placed the Nautilus has alerted and ignited my liking and appreciation of this watch. Your photo looks superb and the bright blue dial is simply lovely.
