An unusual men's watch. Drawing on Patek's historic association with the Gondolo Club, the Gondolo series was launched in 1993. The Reference 5098P was launched in 2007. Followed by the gold version. Currently, the only men's Gondolo in the catalogue are... 

And at one time it was my favourite Patek as the dial is quite something else. As far as the crown is concerned, many brands especially Cartier for example still place design over functionality and Patek once made a lovely torneau shaped watch in rose gol... 

...in the metal. Unusual but with a lot of presence. Very classy and refined. I think this is one for the person who already has a couple of 'regular' references.

I had the opportunity to handle it a few months ago. The dial is very nice. It has a vintage feel and makes me feel nostalgic! To put it succinctly, it just takes me back in time. The only downside for me is that I am moving away from yellow/rose gold. Al...

Vintage feel with class is my take. Saw one a couple years ago and liked it in the metal. The guilloche is an Integral part of its overall charm. Enjoy it with style Jim ! Cheers, Gordon

After two weeks, I am of two minds about it. I still have not gotten used to the tonneau shape. However, the guilloche work is exquisite, and I focus on that. Accuracy is acceptable for an old watch. After a service, it is running -2 s/day.
