Mine stopped too.
Within hours of purchasing my watch it stopped. On examination, we saw a long screw stuck between rotor and mechanism. It went back to Geneva for repairs. I got back recently after about 3 months. Is now working fine. It seems to gain 2-3 seconds a day which is not bad.

my new #5980 which i just picked up last week has completely stopped. winding does not restart it. has anyone else had any problems with the 5980?

like the 3712/1a ?? I am hearing this news very often but nothing officially.......... or maybe they are just calling back the first series like Rolex Milgauss green crystal ... thanks for your info !

I just purchased a 5980 today. My AD called and offered me a 5980 so I snapped it up and felt like I was a lucky guy. Too bad I was not more aware of the 5980 quality issues before I made my purchase. I guess I should be reading the discussion boards more...
