My very first post.
Just wanted to say hello really. Wonderfull club. It's given me hours of pleasure reading about and looking at all your Pateks. My personal love is for very old movements ( sounds slightly rude ). It is amazing to think of all that has happened in the world, while it ticks away quietly. I recently bought a Patek movement with original dial and hands- dated from the Archives to 1892. I had a gold case and new strap fitted and it is stunning. I realise that most purists will look down their noses at it, but really it's a watch of great understated beauty. Interestingly, enscribed on the movement is- " George R Dodson, Spokane, Wash ". A little research reveals that the Jewellers chain of Dodsons is still alive and kicking ! I contacted the great, great Grandsons of the man himself , who were delighted to see the pictures I sent. Usually Patek would supply the movements with their Company name on the dial and we can only surmise that this was his own personal watch. Perhaps to celebrate the opening of his first store in 1892 ? So I wear it with great pride and wonder what sights and sounds this piece of perfection has witnessed ! Best wishes to you all. Peter.
