Hello, I'm not sure if something is wrong or not with my new 5170j. First, when I want to add to the power reserve, do I wind clockwise or counterclockwise (when the crown is pointing towards my chest)? Second, when I wind in the clockwise direction it se... 

When you wind the crown in the clockwise direction, it should be storing power to the mainspring. The crown should not move under its own power in the opposite direction. If this is the case, the click is most likely not working properly with the ratchet ... 

It depends on how much the crown move in anticlockwise direction. I have tried to wind up a few manual winding PP in an auction preview, and found that for most manual watch, the crown will actually move back slightly in anticlockwise position (i.e. a few... 

Thanks! I asked someone who has the same watch, and it does indeed "bounce back" when you wind it... Phew! I was worried I might have to be without my watch for however long it would take to repair...... I LOVE THIS WATCH!!!!!

I wasn't winding it fully because the bounce back made me think the watch was finished being wound fully....

First thing: You can't overwind a 5170 because it's got a dynamometric crown. You'll find that the resistance to winding from the crown gradually increases as the watch nears the fully-wound state and then when it's at it's maximum it will discernibly CLI... 

I love mine also. It is my favorite watch. It is an extremely elegant watch!
