Sounds like a problem....
When you wind the crown in the clockwise direction, it should be storing power to the mainspring. The crown should not move under its own power in the opposite direction. If this is the case, the click is most likely not working properly with the ratchet wheel(winding wheel). On a full wind the watch should run for more than 24 hours. I think a visit to your watchmaker or authorized dealer would be advisable. Nice watch by the way.

Thanks! I asked someone who has the same watch, and it does indeed "bounce back" when you wind it... Phew! I was worried I might have to be without my watch for however long it would take to repair...... I LOVE THIS WATCH!!!!!

Not the case
I wasn't winding it fully because the bounce back made me think the watch was finished being wound fully....

First thing: You can't overwind a 5170 because it's got a dynamometric crown. You'll find that the resistance to winding from the crown gradually increases as the watch nears the fully-wound state and then when it's at it's maximum it will discernibly CLI...
