Patek does make a short strap
and I find I need a short strap with almost any watch I wear. To answer your question Phil I find I alway switch the orientation of the straps as they are backward to almost ever thing else I wear and out of habit I like all my watches to open the same way. As far say deployants go, I always switch them out for Tang's because they are much more comfortable for me.
