Patek Philippe

Really nice looking chronograph, but what bothers me is this 1/10s mention.

Especially since the press releases mentions "measurement". Physics and measurements are strictly defined and a 5Hz can only allow you to measure 2.5Hz (Shannon Nyquist). And that would be the measure for 0.4 seconds not 0.1 or 2/5th of a second. That's pretty far from 1/10th. BIPM (Bureau International des Poids et Mesures) is defining the term measurement for several physical quantities and measurement. Of course, it is not the first brand making this error. Zénith, Tag, Journe... Tag had once corrected one press release.

One could probably say "it displays" that doesn't imply anything scientific and people would be free to believe or not. But measurement is implying scientific constraints. There has always been a close link between science and watchmaking. Science helping watchmaking and watchmaking helping science. It is a pity for me to se such a betrayal.
