Nice letter from father to son. So from the numerous watch / wife analogies I'm guessing that you've had a very strong marriage and wish the same for your son. Or, you've had dreadful luck with a string of different women and you are sufficiently worried that your son is heading down the same path that you hope the gift of an expensive watch will open his eyes. Either way, cool gift unless it's the Swatch that you also mentioned in which case it probably won't take a hold up for him to hand it over to someone else.

cos it explains very well to a "newbie" in simple terms about mechanical watches and why we love them....i resonate well with some of the points you made there. A bit long though but necessary. did you get him a Nautilus?
