Patek Philippe

Thank you Baron for great analyzes.

I pretty much agree with you. My only remarks are very personal:

1. I highly appreciate ALS's overall quality. I feel it's clearly over Patek. However, I do not like their design. For me it's too "Germanic" and lacking some sophistication.
2. With Independents I'm worried about their future and how the service and maintenance is taken care of after some tens of years.

There were many great manufacturers of i.e. pocket watches hundred years ago but today those are relatively difficult to service while i.e. PP, AP. VC, ALS and JLC can be repaired and serviced.

I think one reason why Patek Philippe represents good value is that their watches can be restored and serviced after a very long time with relatively reasonable costs. They just renovated a nice 1950 ladies' watch for my wife and the whole operation was relatively cheap. They made new hands according to the original gold hands (Sfr 100), new plexi glass (Sfr 60), etc. The end result was that my wife got a new-like watch, fully renovated and serviced, with QD gold bracelet, two new straps made according to the historical style and two new but old style pin buckles. The watch has the original box, original Certificate, detailed papers of the restoration... The total costs including the watch, renovation, service, two new straps, two new buckles were below € 10 k. So cheaper than a new PP quartz watch. Not bad...

That's what I would call good value.
