Patek Philippe

Things may be very good in certain

markets but certainly not all, with exchange rates, metal prices, etc. playing havoc on retail prices, it is no wonder that there is inventory sitting.  Realistically, how many people are wetting their pants to spend this type of money on this kind of product. And now another increase? Here in the US, I would think not near as many as before the '08 bust. I am sure there are some very nervous dealers and very cautious buyers.

This is not the first time something like this has occurred. Just shortly before or after the 150th anniversary, a similar set of circumstances affected the 3940. And it seemed that the 3940 lost that shine when they were all of a sudden, readily available. But that was when production levels were probably half of the current level.

How the perceived value of these watches is viewed in the coming years will be very interesting. I can't help but think that somewhere along the line if this trend continues, someone is going to outrun their headlights.
