Patek Philippe

Way more than 150 pieces

I do not agree, I think perhaps to produce a black enamel dial would take 1-2 weeks max per dial per artisan. I reckon 5370's true total output to be around 1000 pieces. The US alone receives upwards of 100-200 spilt second grande comps a year (they are checked and inspected by Henri Stern agency before dispatching to ADs), that is split across 4-6 references and variations. Sure 5204 would take up the majority of that number, but I can hardly see 5372 being produced in greater volume than 5370. So I would estimate 25-50 5370ps being sent to the US per year. That would add up to 125-250 over 5 years. If the USA represents ~25% (an overestimate) of the market, then the overall production is definitely no less than 500 pieces.

I only know happy owners for 5370p myself, while mine arrived end of last year, it was faulty and had to be sent back. Despite the lengthy delay, I still find myself yearning for it to be finally in my collection. I don't think modern pateks, or any watches for that matter can be considered rare just based solely on the number of units produced.

What kind of status the 5370p will achieve in the future remains to be seen, but at least up till now, the supply surely exceeds the demand. So enjoy the watch and be happy about it!
