And I have yet to try it. I tried YG and liked it but the WG, I found terrible. The ivory dial is not my cup of tea but against some colored gold case, it kind of work. I think the black dial WG is nicer than the white dial one. I saw it at BaselWorld but...

I've pulled out my Patek book and started looking at the 40's to 70's Calatravas and there are some great references. I think I have a preference for the 50's and 70's, but these are just first steps Cheers, Mark

They have 2 or 3 hands only models without date but it is the "clous de Paris" references 5116, 5119 or 5120, so it is really different and not at all the same style and not as versatile. I guess that for someone liking no date dials for dressy watches, o... 

I never could see this version but indeed I heard in the past the dial looked great in the metal. The small movement can be an element to consider even if I think it is hidden behind a plain caseback (if I'm not wrong).

The 5196 is very appealing and the case is so different from the 5227's that it will be very complementary, imho (without mentioning a different caliber and caseback). As you do, I expect a Pt version to complement the 5227 family. With another dial than ...

This is a watch I love. So simple yet beautiful. I always thought I would like the 5227G best but I\'m not sure if the dial looks that good with the white gold. I think the new black face and white gold might be a winner. So sharp.

I'm not at all a Pt guy, for a unique reason: too heavy for me. I am skinny, thus I don't have a thick skin on the wrist. Hence, a heavy watch is not comfortable at all, especially when the watche moves on the wrist. And I think I prefer WG's hue to the P...

I love this 5227 too especially in RG. The 5127 was also nice but I wasn\'t sure about the crown guard The only problem I find with the 5227 is perhaps the price lol. Personally I would go for an annual calendar with a bit of top up Cheers Robin

and for some reason I was not so impressed. Do not know why. Maybe because the Date disc was not centered or the charm of the model it is replacing, the 5127 is missing. I find its equivalent from VC - the Patrimony automatic with date - reference 85180 -... 

What you experienced is perfectly understandable. Calatrava's, yet simple watches, have small details evolutions from a generation to the other, but which can lead to love or really not liking them; being excited or remaining cold. Especially as liking a ...

Indeed, the dial color makes it very soft and warm. I think it is 100% homogen that way, in every details. I must say I pay attention to the disk's color (I noticed it but personally didn't trouble me). The 5227G Black dial from this year will have a blak...
