wow...a lot of questions!

well, I hope I can add some clarity to your mental debate

sometimes you just need to hear it from someone else..

this decision needs to be right...its too much money to get wrong, I know I've done it before and lost ££££££ trying to get out of a bad decision

The first thing......

forget other brands, your heart/head are craving a Patek this much is clear from your posts, even if you may not think yourself it was not this obvious

so which one????

the 5170 is a masterpiece for sure, you would have to be dead not to want one.....thats the problem LOL, we never gonna see them for low money my freind, probably premiums in my opinion

but thats a good thing for you... you can discard this piece, its never gonna be a watch you can truely use every day, its a grail my freind, one that God willing you will achieve one day

so lets be realistic, the Gondolo, (5124 and 5098)even by yor own account is a no go......not luminous or waterproof

so the realistic options are maybe a used 5146? 5167 or the Nautilus

all are wonderful options...

but for me..IF I was to get just ONE watch, the decision would be clear....

for everyday, every circumstance, every situation...on the beach, under a double cuff in a business suit, at a wedding

or even in the middle of the night under the covers

there is an icon, a watch which has passed the passage of time, is of strong design, robust yet streamlined and boasts one of the thinnest cases for a automatic

in a sports watch!

there is only one watch my freind....

do it...you will never regret it, I sold my 3700.....to fund my 5970p, but I promise you...I will one day have another Nautilus (God willing)...
