Why don't you give 5196P a try? It has a closed case back which is very traditional but the dial is stunning! If 5227P will appear one day, I'll have a very close look. The lacquered dial is very nice but black enamel would be a real winner. Best, Kari

.....i bumped into our mutual friend on Bond street and saw his 5196p...it is a stunner. I am very torn...i will make a decision on it next year. I don't disagree with you on 5196p...but i di want to see what they do with the 5227p first.

What makes you think that 5227P is on the pipeline? Looks that you know much more than I do. Most of Calatrava models never come out in platinum... I placed the folding clasp to my 5196P and ordered a bunch of nice bespoke straps. This one is really a fin...

How about the icey cool 5196G which IMHO is the true descendant of the 570G, which came with both a sweep and sub seconds ...

As they are really pure and “simple”, the true difficulty for PP with Calatrava models is to reinvent them each time without loosing their DNA or roots.
Maybe one of the most difficult exercise, in my opinion, compared to other more complicated timepieces which offer more room for manoeuvre. Best wishes Alkiro
