A friend's new shop...

 

I had been looking at Persian Carpets for my home office and earlier this year I met a really cool guy who showed us some of his stock after a chance meeting... spent about two hours looking at and learning about carpets... his collection was really nice... toward the end of the visit he showed us some antique rugs that could take your breath away... it was a fun afternoon and I ended up with a little something...




Today I had a chance to visit "Parsa" at his new shop about 10 minutes from home by bicycle.  Spent about an hour chatting...

Didn't get anything this time, it was more of a social visit to see the new shop. They do have one rug (more or less) on hold for me but I need to win the lottery. Some of the antique rugs run to USD 10,000 ... incredibly beautiful. Casey

Some of the Persian carpets are true pieces of art especially the real silk ones. Although nowadays the carpets are usually put on the floor, originally the masterpieces were meant to cover walls. Unfortunately in present days it’s very hard to find a sto...

Parsa also does design work and has some signature offerings... we saw one antique rung that has been in the family for years, waiting for the right customer... someone who can "appreciate" the rug. I love that approach. Casey

When I bought them (for this house) I knew the different areas and styles. however, I have forgotten all that. These are mostly wool Persian or Afghani tribal, with a few court carpets and a sik one or two,. Some kilims and bags too! ...

After we’ve strapped the bookcases to the wall 🙂 and stuck the goodies on with museum putty. But it’s a good reminder of our geologically vulnerable territory. Cheers
