It's been awhile since we had a carpet thread (ha ha ha)
When I bought them (for this house) I knew the different areas and styles. however, I have forgotten all that. These are mostly wool Persian or Afghani tribal, with a few court carpets and a sik one or two,. 
Some kilims and bags too!
A friend's new shop...
I had been looking at Persian Carpets for my home office and earlier this year I met a really cool guy who showed us some of his stock after a chance meeting... spent about two hours looking at and learning about carpets... his collection was really nice....
What I have found locally are Persian and Pakistani carpets...
But I will take a look at Tibetan carpets... Casey

Didn't get anything this time, it was more of a social visit to see the new shop. They do have one rug (more or less) on hold for me but I need to win the lottery. Some of the antique rugs run to USD 10,000 ... incredibly beautiful. Casey

Parsa also does design work and has some signature offerings... we saw one antique rung that has been in the family for years, waiting for the right customer... someone who can "appreciate" the rug. I love that approach. Casey

In California we don’t worry about such things
After we’ve strapped the bookcases to the wall 🙂 and stuck the goodies on with museum putty. But it’s a good reminder of our geologically vulnerable territory. Cheers
quite a shopping experience I guess...buying a carpet...I would probably need quite some rounds of visiting the place till making up my mind...
