Selected foreigners allowed a bye for driving licence
During my 2nd stint in Japan c.2004, I entered the theory examination for conversion of foreign driving licence.
Selected foreign drivers' licence were allowed a Japanese licence provided you passed the multiple choice theory exam including the visual cognitive testing....red, amber...er...green...I thought I saw blue.....Was that red and amber together before green?
The main countries allowed exemption from the road test were UK and strangely....Sweden. I'm sure there were more countries exempt but I only took note of those three as I had just left the employ of that Swedish-American merger of Pharmacia & Upjohn after we merged with Monsanto-Searle and then bought by Pfizer. Ah...happy times!
I joined a Japanese company instead.
