That stepped bezel is set up for stones. And it looks great on the sapphire iteration.
I had tried the malachite dial a while back. Despite me wearing an Octo Finisimo (the closest watch I have in terms of how it may look on the wrist), this one is too much for my wrist.
While it sits nicely on top of my wrist, it just seems to be taking far too much real estate.
Cool nonetheless.

Exactly: there's something glamorous and over the top

I have always been drawn to dials like this , they are so unique and full of warmth. Unfortunately, I don’t own a watch with this type of stone.

I think the Andy Warhol Watch isn’t that difficult to get. I could have bought right away the one I tried on in Geneva last February.

I would use exactly your words: "taking far too much real estate" but "cool nonetheless"! The mix of extravagance and restraint/simplicity (would "understated extravagance" or "restrained extravagance" be good expressions?) is really full of charm. But no...
I find these highly appealing....
