Every year Richard Mille Japan hosts its top clients and friends for dinner in Tokyo with Mr Richard Mille. This year's event was a two parter, which started at the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery, which is part of the Meiji Jingu complex, the shrine dedicated to the Emperor Meiji.

Usually a museum exhibiting murals which depict the Emperor Meiji, the main hall of the gallery was repurposed to display horological art instead. Many of Tokyo's top watch collectors were present at the event, including our very own KIH.

It was a dimly lit hall, but around the perimeter of the hall were brightly lit display cases with all of the 2012 Richard Mille collection, as well as some notable pieces from the past.

The RM001

RM004 Felipe Massa

One of my favourite RM watches, the RM012 "tube tourbillon"

RM018 Boucheron with stone gears

RM020

RM050 with carbon nanotube case

RM053 Pablo McDonough - not my favourite RM

RM052 "skull tourbillon"

RM038 Bubba Watson
And the star of the show was undoubtedly the sapphire cased RM056

After the exhibition, guests were taken by taxi - a fleet of neatly arranged taxis were waiting as a testament to impeccable Japanese organisation - to the nearby Royal Garden cafe for dinner but unfortunately I don't have pictures of that. It was a wonderful evening. Many thanks to Richard Mille Japan, as well as to KIH.
