To summarize this sensitive matter....
.. because it has been coming up several times, and sometimes in a heated way. Why? because these watches are expensive and we tend to be less indulgent or more demanding when we pay such price. But mainly because disappointement is a hard feeling to deal with.
- If there is problems in RM watches? Clearly. At this level it cannot be a campaign to spoil the reputation. I had issues personally, when i talk with friends or people who had or are in contact with RM owners,... There is a stain on reliability.
- Do these problems get solved? Yes, quite quickly and the watches tend to work fine after that. Generally speaking, owners are satisfied from watches that came back from SAV. This is very important. Shows that its not such a big deal.
- Is it acceptable to have to go through that frustrating process ? Yes and No. Because we love those watches so much so we'll bear the frustration. No, because on simple complications such as on the rm011 and rm010, such issues shouldn't be still coming up again and again. Fine tuning those problems is still very important for the reputation of the brand. This can fade away with time and be jst a memory.
There is something very unfair in all this, its so hard to build a good reputation, takes lots of hard work, sweat and blood. Its so easy to ruin a reputation. So we gotta be fair here and in the same time not hide behind our finger and speak about whats going wrong. The point is to move things to make them better.
RM are IMO some of the most attractive watches on the market nowadays. I think its a brand that will resist the test of time and will still be around in the futur. Why? Because they have this "je ne sais quoi" that makes you melt when you see them and especially wear them. What is it? I don't know... They are just eye candies.
To end this topic, like i said before, if you really love those watches, be patient and tolerant. Bear the bad if it occurs and enjoy the joy and satisfaction they can bring!
It got me to buy another rm011 and i am soooooo so happy with it. I guess the heart has reasons that the reason cannot understand
A special word for Moderator and Theodore especially. They are doing a great job here. I got a PM from Theo in the middle of christmas holidays to offer help to follow up with maintenance department about whats going on with my watch. It was nice to feel supported when things go wrong.
My 2 cents,
Karim
Quality problem??

Hi, I just wanna share my experience with fellow members. I bought a RM11ti from my local boutiqueback in January 2010, use it for the third time and i found out the watch always stop the following morning no matter how many times i wind the watch. Any of...

... until it stopped one day completly and crown not clutching the movement anymore. In this forum you will hear from many rm011 owners who had problems, generally all around the winding, crown and date issues. No big deal, once the watch is sent for repa...

I keep swaying back and forth like a pendulum about RM. For a little I love it, then reading issues like these sways be the other way. I have decided though. I will not indulge in RM for a few years. I will give them 2 to 3 years to fix their QC issues. I...
Fair point...

However I would like to add that one common theme permiates the 'problem' threads, and that is that once they have been back to RM the problems are fixed and the watches remain reliable. So to me although an issue, I have total faith things get sorted quic...
True

I am sure (hopefully) that sending it back for a fixing will remedy it but my pet peeve is having anything (especially if its valuable) opened up unnecessarily. I am not sending in my Panerai pam312 (crown winding feels tight & rotor sluggish) because...

it happens to other watch makers. but to keep this comparison consistent, i.e: apples to apples. Compare an RM010 worth about $ 65,000 to any other watch (watch maker) in the same range. The amount of issues will be MUCH less. Its good to know that Richar...

Quote:-DID you know that the rejection rate in RM is around 90% yes 90% I find that very hard to believe....I mean if only 10% makes it out into customers hands then RM must have huge problems with what they are doing. So 90% of product is rejected , 10% ...
But Stats Lie...
By: chris4 : March 17th, 2010-09:28
..and there is not enough info with a statement like 'rejection rate of 90%'....Firstly as a bean counter it would make me question the whole production of an item and the true final value of it if 90% of the production went in the bin. Say it was an RM11...
