Not bothering to service it at this point until you see how it’s working. This is a quartz movement and nothing like a mechanical watch. I’ve had two and liked them, but like yours, visibility wasn’t too good. Best regards, Cazalea

But over time, these quartz tend to be expensive. I learned it the hard way with my Speedmaster X33. They are less reliable, but automatics are bulletproof and can be serviced every 10 years, which makes it a strong proposal over the long run.

Yes Vin, mechanicals are better. I had manny quartz watches which not survived the stand of time. If quartz was better, i had now 8 watches extra into my collection. Coming back to the oyster quartz, it is not a common peace. Back into 2001, i was looking... 

But it is counter-intuitive that quartzes end up being more expensive over the long run. I believe this technology is better suited for low end watches with a life of say 10 years but Rolex was experimenting at the time and they - as usual - ended up with... 

I regularly change batteries on my quartz watches but don't get them serviced unless there is a problem.

Do it yourself. Enough shops that simply replace the battery. I truly doubt it needs a big service or replacing the gaskets. Just don't go swim with it and you'll be fine.
