For this amount of money, you can also get a full set 1675 Gilt underline double swiss, a 6542, 6538 ( service dial, though ), a complete Vintage Dayto, a Complete Milgauss 1019, well, you git the idea, a reference in the Vintage Rolex collection.
So yes, going on a 5512 like yours is a choice, a true, deep, serious decision you have to make, when you can get other very tempting watches.
At the beginning, I was ont sure, because of the value of such a watch, but when seeing it, I now understand the effort, your effort.
The dial is mesmerinzing, the bi colored 4 lines are magic, and the condition is top.
And I also guess that for a Submariner Lover, this reference is a must.
As for the beginning of its " life ", I always thought the first 5512 came in 1959, not in 1958. What kind of other datas do you have, to confirm its existence so early?
As you said, we learn every day with Vintage Rolex watches.
