Author discusses downsizing their collection to two beloved 36mm Rolexes, content with refined taste at 55. | Rolex

It has been a while since my latest addition to the watch family

Because about a year ago I decided to downsize my collection in more than one way. First of all the watches had to go which I hardly wore, second, the new watches that I planned to buy had to be smaller in size (36 mm instead of the bigger steel sports models). So last year december I was able to buy my beloved yellow gold Day Date 36 with the white dial and last week I added the new Land Dweller 36 in steel. So now my collection is down to two Rolexes (okay I also still have a Cellini Dual Time in rose gold but nobody wants to buy that from me, so I will keep it for my kids). And now I am perfectly happy with my two watch collection….the desire for collecting has faded and now that I am 55 my taste has changed once again preferring smaller sized watches and no longer needing to have a big collection.

That white dialed DD is excellent. The LD is a perfect complement. Did you get that from your AD or was traded with other pieces of yours?

The DD i got from my trusted AD, the LD was impossible dor me to get from my AD, so they told me, so I got it from a trusted reseller who I did a trade with.

I did a similar thing beginning of this year. Downsizing a lot and i must say it feels great tbh . Now starting to wear what i have . Not in the process yet to buy anything new for the moment

Same here, at least now I get to wear my watches instead of having a collection with the majority hardly being worn. Another advantage of downsizing👍

So true! I checked with several AD’s in the Benelux and they all told me it qould be impossible. Then the grey market dealer had one online, that got sold quickly and I asked him how long before he would have another one and that took just two weeks!
