I agree. I guess i was inferring that for the price of a modified daytona, you are not a million miles away from a nice vintage piece... and if the purpose of a modification is to NOT have something that the average manager has, then a vintage piece would... 

What I believe , Joe is that going for a vintage shows a certain personal development. It is like oldtimers, you have to love the smell of old leather, the smell of warm oil... Some people are born with that taste , some acquire it, some will never grow u...

I had the chance to put a CVD coated Daytona on my wrist last year and I must say that I beleive that's the way Rolex should do the watch. Congrats, who dares wins ;-) Cheers Jeff

posts about it. You do not imagine how many times I did a forum search with the words black daytona, PVD, DLC, CVD...etc. I think that a lot of people that do not buy them because they do not want to loose the Rolex warranty would go for an official black... 

Project X do this type of "modification". I tell you, when i was a kid of about 12, I used to go with my dad to work in one of his shops. It was in Berwick Street in London. There were quite a few sex shops around the area. I ALWAYS used to offer to fetch...

The legibility is good but I almost wish to have the instrument rings matt to even improve it but somewhere you have to stop... There are quite a few companies I know and certainly many more. I went for it when I was sure that the AD and the "pimper" woul... 

I think it is a really beautiful Daytona...makes the watch a little bit understated...if that is ever possible with a Rolex! SJX's earlier post on Bamford and Sons as well as the upcoming opening of a store in Singapore made me quietly surfed the Bamford'... 

Bamford, Projectxdesigns, Pro hunter, Blackoutconcept, Positive coating real busy.. I agree with you that the mass do not pay attention any more if your watch does not look like the Rolexes they are use to track... The other category: the connaisseurs do ...

to compare the finish. You are correct, if Rolex would have done it , I would have gone for the official one. You also pointed at the problem, I find myself really limited with the choice of variants while choosing a watch after being spoiled at the perso...
