Modern Rolex
What, in your opinion, is the best modern day Rolex reference? I’m thinking of a watch that is no older than 20 years old.
Probably the 116600 Sea Dweller...if not that, then the last of the 5-digit sub or sea dwellers.
If you go a bit beyond 20 years, then a 5-digit tritium dial sub or sea dweller.
The modern Daytona is a beauty if you can get it...
...much more wearable than I would have thought.
Last Rolex Standing...
...(for now, haha) is my Explorer 214270 Mk II. I love GMTs and Submariners, but my wrist somewhat disagreed and likes the lightweight Explorer. Can't say anything about 'best', it just works well for me and my wrist.
I bought my Sub in 1983...
...because I wanted one watch that could do anything, go anywhere, and last me the rest of my life. It is thinner than the SD, and can do 99.99999% of what the SD does. All of you saturation divers out there may disagree : )
Yachtmaster II, DSSD and Sky-dweller ...
because everything else is rehash of decades old concepts.

I really love the SD4k
But the standout to me is a nod to Rolex dress watch history - the Cellini Moonphase. It’s such an unexpected release by Rolex and I am still waiting for a WG/ SS version
