The 6610 that I mention emitted more radium in a day than a full catscan. In just one day. Too much for me....rotation or not.

given the number of watches many of us own and how we rotate them regularly thus limiting the wrist time, is there a proven health hazard with these old beauties? Regards Kev.

.....i have a friend who conducted full analysis on my watches. It was actually quite disturbing watching the results unfold. The 6610 shocked him. Legally, he would not be allowed to have something as radioactive in a laboratory.
5508 ....yes.....exclam made me hope it was not an issue.....
.....but it was actually quite high. 12 uSv per hour. The 6610 was over 200 uSv/hr. 6200 was a radium watch. Same problem. I think I lost 6 or 7 watches through this issue. ...
that one was paerticularly bad....
.....though I have to say, I have seen some watches at double the 6610 red depth reading on radiation. Legal factors are now forcing the manufacturers to take appropriate action when a radiation watch comes in for service. try putting a full radium watch ...

.....indeed....though in this case it wasn't let go to make room for something else. Rather, it was let go because of what i saw as a health hazard. Still hurts to see them gone, but i am glad to have kept a number of post-1970s still in my collection.
