.......all exited because of the radiation emissions. Sometimes I do ponder my actions, but then I remember my Cambridge University Physicist friend who tested the watches and told me that he considered them risky...to varying extents. The 6610 Red depth ...

........ first, there was very possibly a real health risk. But secondly, in my mind there was a health risk. Each one of these hurt a great deal to let go. But yes, Harry.....you are totally correct. We move on and find other watches. Would I take any of... 

given the number of watches many of us own and how we rotate them regularly thus limiting the wrist time, is there a proven health hazard with these old beauties? Regards Kev.

.....i have a friend who conducted full analysis on my watches. It was actually quite disturbing watching the results unfold. The 6610 shocked him. Legally, he would not be allowed to have something as radioactive in a laboratory.

.....but it was actually quite high. 12 uSv per hour. The 6610 was over 200 uSv/hr. 6200 was a radium watch. Same problem. I think I lost 6 or 7 watches through this issue. ...  

Red depth=slow death (in this case)?

.....though I have to say, I have seen some watches at double the 6610 red depth reading on radiation. Legal factors are now forcing the manufacturers to take appropriate action when a radiation watch comes in for service. try putting a full radium watch ...

it was a very hard decision to make and I did go to considerable lengths to be sure my concerns were valid. So yes, instead I have a 1970+ collection of vintage Rolex rather than pre-70s. One on my wrist right now!! ...

.....indeed....though in this case it wasn't let go to make room for something else. Rather, it was let go because of what i saw as a health hazard. Still hurts to see them gone, but i am glad to have kept a number of post-1970s still in my collection.
